At the 94th Pitti Immagine Uomo, Tretorn, the historic Swedish brand manufacturer of sneakers and outdoor clothing, presents two novelties in the name of recovering its heritage in a green key: Eco Essentials Bio Project, the first 100% biodegradable rain jacket and a collection of sneakers that re-read the iconic models of the brand, those of the years 1900, 1955, 1961 and 1967, with modern comfort and the same attention to the circular ecosystem of nature.
The brand founded in 1891 by Johan Dunker in Helsingborg, Sweden, has launched in 2016 the Eco Essentials project to reach at least 50% of its totally recyclable or biodegradable production, made of recycled materials and without the use by 2020 of harmful chemicals. Eco Essentials Bio Project is a minimalist urban jacket, attentive to the functional style sought by contemporary consumers, with a triple soul made of technical contents, technology derived from military and bio and green materials.
The garment is in fact 100% waterproof (10000 wp / mm) and windproof and is made of PLA (poly lactic acid), a polyester yarn obtained by extracting carbon dioxide from plants such as corn, sugar cane or beet to which it overlays the waterproofing coating with degradable Pio-PU, and packaged with special biodegradable polyamide yarn hinges made by the Italian company Amni Soul Eco Material. The jacket, the result of Tretorn’s collaboration with Oi Polloi, is presented at Pitti in olive and dark blue colors and will be on sale with a special preview only in the UK in June at a cost of about 175 euros while it will be available in stores around the world as of March 2019.
The other novelty is the collection of Eco-Heritage sneakers in which the most iconic models that have written the history of the gym shoe are reinterpreted in the light of contemporary design and with the same green approach that looks to the sustainable future. In the SS 2019 collection, sneaker models from the company’s crucial years – 1900, 1955, 1961 and 1967 will be proposed again – with the use of natural rubber from the local area for soles, recycled rubber for in-sock and Eco Tannery Tan-Tec for the Eco Suede and Eco-leather uppers, whose provenance is absolutely traceable and the production is based on strict regulation of consumption and toxic substances used.
4 models of Tretorn sneakers for the SS 2019 collection: 1900-05-01, the contemporary remake of the first Tretorn sneaker launched in May 1900 as a true sports shoe for tennis and gymnastics, Tournament 1955, the new contemporary luxury declined on a classic 1955 tennis sneaker, Racket 1961, premium model in suede leather for a sixties tennis icon with an exclusive vulcanized three-layer sole for durability and absolute comfort and Nylite 1967, sneakers tennis wear worn by Bjorn Borg at the US OPEN and at Wimbledon, recognized by the New York Preppy Handbook as a must in 1980, and now reborn in the luxury version as a lifestyle accessory.
