Finally, the American film distributor Magnolia Pictures has declared the first theatrical date of the docufilm “The Gospel According To André“. On May 25th, in three American theaters – two in New York, one in Los Angeles – André Leon Talley, the former legendary editor-at-large by Vogue America, will be recounting in the latest effort by the director Kate Novack, the same author and producer of the acclaimed documentary “Page One: Inside the New York Time”. Already protagonist in the pages of the volume A.L.T. of 2003 and Little Black Dress (published by Skira Rizzoli – 2013) in which he told part of his personal life, André Leon Talley unveils his approach to fashion to film cameras.

“The Gospel According to André” is the adaptation in film of that novel of training (fashionable) that represents the life of the great André, a boy in love with elegance from the day when he was able to observe the refined wardrobe of his grandmother Bennie Frances Davis. In the documentary there are exclusive interviews with Anna Wintour, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, but also Valentino Garavani, Diane von Furstenberg, Manolo Blahnik, Fran Lebowitz, Whoopi Goldberg, Tamron Hall and Isabella Rossellini. In addition to the big names of fashion, archival footage of André Leon Talley’s 67 years and his career began with the entry into the Andy Warhol Factory in the ’70s and in WWD, the magazine that saw Talley editor from 1975 to 1980.
