The new year is approaching, it’s time for the 2017 to draw conclusions and look back at those who were the cornerstones of men’s fashion this year. Iconic pieces that can not miss in the wardrobe, or new interpretations of outerwear evergreen up to sneakers, indisputable protagonists (also) of this season’s catwalks.
Trucker jacket, the denim jacket
Undisputed icon of the male wardrobe for all four seasons. The denim jacket was the protagonist of a year full of reinterpretations and customizations on the occasion of its fiftieth birthday that is celebrated in Los Angeles. On the occasion of this event, Levi‘s collaborated with 50 icons and influencers from all over the world, to tell the story of one of the “symbol” garments of American clothing – the 70505 Trucker Jacket Type III born in 1967 – known today as the denim jacket.
The nineties sweatshirt
In acetate, or technical jersey. The sweatshirt with zip, ribbed knit cuffs and collar returns to the men’s wardrobe and, above all, to the catwalk. The first to pull it off with matching trousers is Gucci, embroidered with flowers and animals of the Gucci garden imagined by the creative director of maison Alessandro Michele, or with all-over wallpaper prints. Not only Gucci, Maison Margiela reinterprets it in a geometric color block version, Givenchy with loggias and Lanvin bands with patches on the chest.
The Nike made in collaboration with Off White
2017 has been a year of numerous collaborations. Among the most significant is that between Nike and Virgil Abloh. The capsule is called The Ten. Ten iconic pieces from the American sports giant reinterpreted by Off White’s creative director.
There has not been a brand that has not included them in the 2017 winter collection. Corduroy trousers make a great comeback in this autumn winter’s wardrobe. Spokesperson is undoubtedly Prada that reinterprets it in seventy key with wide leg and slightly higher and more snug waist. Hence an entire evolution: Thom Browne shortens them and adds a microstampa tone-on-tone penguin, Burberry tinges them with royal blue and widens the paw while Gucci sees them in a chinos key.
The oversized down jacket
In the history of men’s coats, the duvet has never had any defaillance. Also for this season, here it is the protagonist of collaboration, limited editions or simply the must-have item of the collection dedicated to the cold. The oversized down jacket is worn over the tailored suit or as a last layer to protect itself from the cold of the last months of 2017. Moncler‘s Streetship created for the streetwear Stylebop.com site, and those created in collaboration with Kith , New York lifestyle brand in a very limited edition.
